Vis is a town on the same name island. The island is pretty far away from mainland (about two hours with a ferry), and it is connected with the coast from Split. Ferry lines goes two till four time a day during the summer, and in the season it has direct ferry connection with Ancona in Italy. Climate is Mediterranean, but as Vis is pretty far away from the coast, wings are not rare on it. Total population of town Vis is 1960 inhabitants.
It contains hotel and private accommodation capacities. Maybe it would be interesting to the tourists that antique name for it was Issa, and that Vis has a really reach history. So on it could be seen numerous ruins of fortress, all kinds of sacral object from all ages, and much more. Also, as Vis was an “military island” till 1990, it could be seen a tunnel in the middle of the hill Hum, which is now out of use, but was in military use till recently. Also, at the top of the hill is cave, called Titova Spilja (Titos Cave) where is believed that Josip Broz Tito was hiding during the World War II, and there is still the bed in which he slept, alongside some other his personal things.
