Postira is one of the small counties on the north shore of the island Brač, counting the town Postira and smaller settlement Dol. Frequent ferry and catamaran lines make Brač closer, since there are more than few docking during a day from Split to Supetar, another small town on the island. Postira is about 8 kilometers away from the port in Supetar.
The whole island Brač, with its little towns and villages, is a typical Dalmatian island, a place whose inhabitants lived from fishing, cattle-breeding and agriculture, and nowadays they are increasingly developing tourist capacities and infrastructure. Brač is the island with one exception; stone exploring was the main occupation of its people and Brač’s stone is famous around the globe.
The beauties of the island and its unique atmosphere can be read from the great number of visitors during the whole year. Although Brač and Postira have great capacities in private apartments and rooms, as well as in hotel accommodation, another bed is hard to find in summer season. Apartments are comfortable and modern, bars and restaurants are frequent, with traditional meat and fish dishes spiced with authentic herbs, olive oil and vines, Brač is famous for.
Postira is also a place for cycling, bowling, tennis, basketball and all kind of water sports. Just few kilometers from Postira is Lovrečina bay, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic, tracking the long gold shore line of sand. It is a place with a wellspring of drinkable water, attractive to inquisitors from antiquity. Remains from Roman complex are found in the soil of the bay, and the remains of Antique docks lies underwater.
