The last of eleven Croatian Parks of nature and the most distanced inhabited island in Croatian sea, Lastovo is an open invitation for the ones who still enjoy in intact nature and find a place in their hart for admiration to it. Although is pretty hard to reach, ferryboat and catamaran ride from Split last about 4 hours, it is forth every effort. Maybe, thus Lastovo still preserved it’s environment and traditional ways of living. There are 46 little islets and rocks surrounding Lastovo, 46 square kilometers is the size of Lastovo, it has 46 fields and 46 churches. Besides natural wonders, Lastovo has long tradition of preserving civilized way of living; Lastovo’s statute from the year 1310. due to residents of Lastovo have never been nobody’s slaves. In that way Lastovians managed to protect human freedom and traditional values through the centuries. Town Lastovo is settled inside of the island and was founded a 1000 years ago. There are few more settlements on the island well connected by the island roads. Private accommodation is maybe the best way to find out all the little mysteries of isolated life on the sea; kind hosts are happy to share their visions and traditional cooking skills. Apartments are comfortable, but be aware that you won’t spend much time in it. There are more than few ways to fulfill your needs of active vacation; maintained tracks all along the island will take you from one beautiful sandy cove to another, easy trips to nearby islets and diving in the cleanest sea where transparency somewhere goes up to 30 meters, summer music festivals and much, much more. It is not needlessly to mention that beside the mildness of climate, the nature is kind too; there are no poison snakes or spiders on Lastovo, so you can loll your body wherever you wish to and relax with all your senses.
